Team Boomer Marathoners Raise More Than $500,000 to Support CF Community

It was another successful ING New York City Marathon, as 115 Team Boomer marathoners brought in more than $500,000 to support cystic fibrosis research and the CF community.

All four of the Team Boomer athletes who have cystic fibrosis — Stephen Bell, Kevin Dwyer, Steven Levick and Wanda Renner — completed the course.

Longtime New Yorker Kevin Dwyer — who has cystic fibrosis — had never seen the New York City marathon prior to watching the 2010 event. But that day, when he saw a Team Boomer runner on the course, he was moved and inspired.

Kevin was one of four Team Boomer runners with CF who finished the 2011 ING New York City Marathon. The day after the event, the CBS Early Show aired this piece on Kevin’s journey.

The New York Times also wrote a feature article on Kevin Dwyer as part of its marathon coverage.
