POLICE CHIEFS / BOOMER ESIASON
FOUNDATIONS ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP
On
April 3, 2008 the New Jersey Police Chiefs Foundation (NJPCF) and
the Boomer Esiason Foundation (BEF) formally announced the formation
of their new partnership during the NJSACOP’s monthly membership
briefing.
Speaking on behalf of the NJPCF, Retired Police Chief John Coyle,
Egg Harbor Township PD, immediate past president of the NJSACOP and
Chairman of the Police Chiefs Foundation said, “It’s extremely
gratifying for me personally, and for that matter, this entire
organization to join with the Boomer Esiason Foundation in their
very noble effort to find a cure for cystic fibrosis. Since our
inception, the New Jersey Police Chiefs Foundation has been actively
involved in supporting a wide variety of worthwhile causes to
include the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, MADD,
Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation, the Concerns of Police
Survivors, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police
Hurricane Katrina Law Enforcement Relief Fund. But today, we enter
into a partnership with an established organization that is at the
cutting edge of the efforts to find a cure for an extremely serious
medical condition that has affected too many people for far too
long. On behalf of the entire Board of Trustees, and on behalf of
our entire membership, I can say that we’re proud to be associated
with the Boomer Esiason Foundation and we’re all looking forward to
a most successful and productive relationship.”
Representing the BEF was its co-founder, Board member, and director
of development Lee Becker who read a special message from Boomer
Esiason to his new partners,
“I'm
honored that my foundation is partnered with an organization that's
existence is based on security and protection. As a Quarterback, I
relied on my linemen, today, as the father of a child with cystic
fibrosis; I rely on groups like the New Jersey Police Chiefs
Foundation to help me fight the battle against this dreaded
disease."

Becker concluded by expressing his personal appreciation to the
NJPCF for their support as well as their ongoing commitment to
assisting the BEF in their efforts to find a cure for cystic
fibrosis.
“Boomer has always had a special place in his heart for NJ Law
Enforcement. We know that organizations like the NJPCF and the
NJSACOP have many choices when it comes to supporting charitable
causes. Since its inception, the BEF has raised almost $65 million
dollars with more than 90% of those funds going directly to support
the cause. But it's getting much more difficult to raise funds and
having a very prominent, New Jersey based organization on the team
is a big plus as the Garden State is home to many of our corporate
and personal supporters, as well as a recognized leader in medical
research and development.”
The
Boomer Esiason Foundation is comprised of leaders in the medical and
business communities joined together with a committed core of
volunteers to provide financial support to research aimed at finding
a cure for cystic fibrosis. The Foundation works to heighten public
education and awareness and provide a better quality of life for
those affected by cystic fibrosis.
The
New Jersey Police Chiefs Foundation, which is the charitable
affiliate of the NJSACOP, is a 501(c) 3, not-for-profit foundation
established in 2003. It is governed by a Board of Trustees made up
of former and current officers of the NJSACOP, other active chief
law enforcement officers, interested citizens and corporate
leaders. The current Board of Trustees includes: Chief John J.
Coyle, Ret., Chairman, Egg Harbor Township; Chief Robert J. Kugler,
Saddle Brook; Chief Michael J. Hayden, Berlin Township; Chief Robert
A. Coulton, Ewing Township; Chief William M. Corcoran, Ridgewood;
Chief Eric Mason, Cranford; Chief William Nally, Lacey Township;
Chief R. Brett Matheis, Clinton; Richard Picolli, CEO/President,
GTBM Inc.; Brigadier General William J. Marshall, Ret., Asst. VP for
Government & Military Affairs, New Jersey Institute of Technology;
Thomas R. Zapf, Director, Consumer & Government Relations, Macy’s
East; James L. Pallouras, Jr., ADT Security Services, Inc.; and
Mitchell C. Sklar, Executive Director, NJSACOP.
