Hydrox Labs has issued a voluntary recall of Cardinal Health labeled alcohol-free mouthwash. The mouthwash has been tested and been found positive for Burkholderia cepacia (B. cepacia). The Centers for Disease Control has confirmed hospital illnesses in one state associated with the use of the affected mouthwash.

B. cepacia is a bacteria that can be found in soil and water and poses little medical risk to healthy people. However, people who have certain health problems like weakened immune systems or chronic lung diseases, particularly cystic fibrosis (CF), may be more susceptible to infections with B. cepacia.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact your CF care center team.
