"The quiet courage and determination of CF families inspires me; it is for these families that we work day in and day out."
The Boomer Esiason Foundation’s staff is comprised of individuals with expertise in cystic fibrosis and program development, event planning and fundraising, marketing and communications, and management. The Board of Directors includes leaders in the business community who generously give of their time and resources in support of BEF’s critical mission. The Young Professionals Committee are a group of business professionals dedicated to hosting a number of events benefitting BEF. These dedicated people may come from all walks for life, but they all agree on one thing: they’ll do whatever it takes to beat cystic fibrosis.

Sure, we have raised millions of dollars to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis. But our mission isn't all about fundraising; it's also about supporting the CF community. To that end, we have developed a variety of programs to help people with CF live, breathe and succeed ... despite the disease.

Jerry Cahill

CF Ambassador

Jerry Cahill has volunteered at the Foundation since 2004. He plays an integral role in all BEF efforts in the CF community. Jerry, 56 years old and living with CF, heads up the BEF scholarship and transplant grant programs, and he hosts a podcast series and the CF Wind Sprint video series. Under his leadership, the Foundation launched the Exercise For Life Scholarship and Team Boomer-Fighting Cystic Fibrosis athletic program. Jerry previously spent 27 years working in sales and management in the apparel industry. He was introduced to the Foundation by BEF Board Members Billy Heinzerling and Bob DiFazio at a New York Athletic Club fundraiser. Jerry is a lifelong athlete – he competed in the pole vault for the University of Connnecticut and NYAC, including a personal best 16 feet, 10 3/4 inches – and former actor. He is living, breathing proof that people living with CF can have a fulfilling life. On April 18, 2012, Jerry received a life-saving double lung transplant and ran in Boomer's CF Run to Breathe only three months later. He truly is an inspiration to all those at BEF and in the CF community.
